Have you ever tried to be someone that is not you? I have. I won't lie. But, I didn't like it.
I did that for many reasons. Many times, I did that thinking it would make me more happier. Alas, it did not make me more happier. Instead, it masked the true person that I am and hindered the projection of my true nature. Being at the epicenter of your true nature is the most important step to be happy.
I believe that we live in a world that has many kinds of people with many kinds of conditioning. By conditioning, I mean, how nature, things and circumstances around have shaped how we think and conduct ourselves. Because there are various ways of thinking and personalities, we try hard to be pleasing and conforming to the most common expectations of people. Is that the way to go? To be politically correct, diplomatic, and conflict free at any cost? Of course, there is never a simple answer. Like yes or a no.
As much as it is always a good idea to be as much true to our nature as we can, there are certainly some things that we should conform to. Like being respectful to others and their true nature. We should all accept and embrace some basic golden rules, laws, conducts, and behaviors that help us all be in our true nature. In order to peacefully co-exist we must confine ourselves to some behaviors. Being kind, true, polite will always maximize all of our happiness.
Other than that, there may be other things in our nature, like some of us want to avoid a lot of people; some want to spend some time reading; while others may want to go for other adventures. Some of us may find writing poetry amusing but some of us may indulge ourselves in endogenous and exogenous variables of economic models. Some of us may want to become rich monetarily, some of us like a simple life that can afford basic things. Some of us may like particular things, some of us may not.
As long as we are all true to ourselves and our nature; the authentic us, and respectful to others, it is all good. The logic of not being authentic and not expressing disapproval of things for the shake of avoiding conflict is based on flaws. First flaw is that one is not being true. The second flaw is that there should never be a conflict if there is a mutual respect for one another's true nature. There is no need to be judgmental about what others think and blend it with one's ego.
I believe that in a good society, everybody adheres to good behaviors and basic rules that promote peaceful co-existence of each other. However, in other matters they freely express themselves and respect the free expression of others. Everyone believes and respects their and others true nature so much that they do not judge anyone or identify their ego with what others say.
However, there is never a perfect society. I have heard that being imperfect is the prerequisite for being perfect. Now, how can any logic work that way. Alright, thats all for now. :)
